Teledyne RD Instruments VmDas (Vessel-Mounted Data Acquisition System) is a Windows-based application for configuring, controlling, and monitoring vessel-mounted ADCPs during underway surveys. It acquires and displays current profiles in real time, merges navigation and heading inputs (e.g., NMEA 0183), and supports both bottom-track and GPS water-track referencing to produce earth-referenced velocities.
Operators can adjust ensemble and bin settings, monitor quality metrics such as percent good and correlation, and view ship track, profile contours, and time series while logging raw and averaged data. VMDAS captures cruise and project metadata and offers export options for downstream analysis in tools like WinADCP or custom processing workflows. It is widely used in oceanographic research, hydrographic surveying, and offshore operations to deliver reliable, repeatable vessel-mounted current measurements.
Teledyne RD Instruments VmDas is developed by Teledyne RD Instruments. The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.4. The name of the program executable file is VmDas.exe.
